Michelle “Nicci” Young is an associate attorney in the Pre-Litigation Department. Her primary practice focuses on representing personal injury victims throughout the State of Texas. She also has experience handling workers compensation, insurance, consumer, and contract cases. Nicci is committed to providing her clients effective and quality legal services while remaining responsive and attentive to their needs.

Nicci was born and raised in a small town in Southern California. She is one of six siblings, born to two hardworking working class parents. She is the first in her family to attend and graduate college. Nicci earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Administrative Studies from the University of California, Riverside in 1999. While in college, she completed an externship at the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and worked part-time at the campus Transportation Department during her undergraduate years. After graduating college, Nicci worked as an eligibility specialist for the San Bernardino County Welfare Department for several years and later earned her Juris Doctor from Western State University, College of Law in 2003. During law school, Nicci completed externships at the Orange County District Attorney’s Newport Beach Office; the Orange County Legal Aid Society; and also completed an internship at her school’s Family Law Clinic servicing low-income residents of Orange County, California. During law school, Nicci also maintained employment at a local grocery store in order to help finance her education.

Following law school, Nicci joined the Irvine based law firm, Law Office of Rezai & Associates. Her practice focused on workers compensation law. She later joined the San Bernardino office of Hallet, Emerick & Wells, P.C. (formerly, Hallett & McCormick, P.C.), where she continued to focus her practice on workers compensation law. She has represented both plaintiffs and insurers in workers compensation cases. Further, she has experience in all aspects of handling these matters including case analysis, employee and witness interviews and recorded statements, medical records review, legal research, negotiations and settlement, depositions and has represented clients at settlement conferences and hearings in front of Workers Compensation boards across Southern California.

In early 2006, Nicci relocated to Texas with her husband and two children when her husband transferred to his company’s Texas headquarters. After relocating, Nicci made the decision to take some time off to be home with her children during the transition to Texas, but during this time she continued to maintain ties to the legal community. She remained active in the California State Bar by taking continuing legal education classes in order to keep up with relevant law.

In 2007, Nicci returned to the workforce when she joined the Texas Department of Family and Children, where she worked for Child Protective Services as a family based safety specialist. This position allowed Nicci to help children in need.

In 2008, Nicci joined AAA Texas Insurance Company and became a licensed insurance claims adjuster. She has extensive adjusting experience handling all types of first and third party personal lines insurance claims, particularly bodily injury claims and litigated claims. Her experience includes liability disputes, medical document review, case evaluation, negotiation, settlement, and mediations. Nicci continued her employment at AAA Texas until November 2013 when she re-launched her legal career after becoming licensed to practice law in Texas.

Shortly after, Nicci opened her own law firm where she practiced primarily personal injury law, auto accident cases, general negligence cases and insurance law. She also consulted with several small businesses in Texas and California on different legal issues including non-disclosure agreements, service level agreements, and collection and franchise agreements.

Nicci is married to her best friend, James. They have two great kids and one very hyper dog, Lucy. Nicci loves living in Texas and has become a fan of many things Texas, including the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs and of course Texas BBQ!
